Hiring Licensed Battlefield Guides
Licensed guides are available at the Gettysburg National
Park Service Visitor Center on a first come, first served basis. The
Visitor Center is open daily 8-6 during the summer, 8-5 other times
(closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Years Day). Guides
occasionally are also located at West End Guide Station on U.S. 30 from
Palm Sunday Weekend through Veteran's Day Weekend.
Guides are extremely popular. During busy times of the
year it is not uncommon to have all available tours gone early in the
day. If you wish to obtain guide services it is best to arrive at
the Visitor Center as early in the day as possible. The center
opens its doors at 8 AM and guide services are scheduled
immediately. Generally, by 10 AM there will be a wait. By 2 PM it
may be impossible to schedule a guide for later in the day as all
available times are booked. Reservations may be made for
individual guided tours through the Gettysburg National Park Foundation Reservation System. If you desire a specialized custom tour of the town or the battlefield please contact the ALBG directly.
NOTE: Effective
10/20/2007 we have discontinued our email link temporarily due to the
impact of spam - goons. They have completely made impossible to
filter legitimate requests from their garbage. Until we
reestablish a clean contact address please make your reservations
through the NPS reservation system links in the "Reservations" tab on
the left.
Disclaimer: The Main Street Gettysburg program recently
established a "Licensed Town Guide" program which they operate.
They appear to have confused visitors to the area who desire the
services of a traditional Licensed Battlefield Guide. Guides are available
through the National Park Service Visitor Center for tours of the
battlefield (including the town). Please be certain of who's services
you are booking when making a reservation.
