August 19, 2014 "Last Stand on Seminary Ridge"

Late on the afternoon of July 1, 1863 battered elements of the Union 1st Corps clung tenaciously to the slopes and hastily assembled barricades along Seminary RIdge.  Here, exhausted Federal Infantrymen and artilleryment hunkered down amidst the debris of battle to receive the onsaught of Dorsey Pender's fresh Confederate infantry division.  The tour will be conducted by car pool.  We meet at the Angle on Hancock Avenue at Cushing's artillery battery and following an orientation we will drive out to the Lutheran Theological Seminary.
