John Fitzpatrick has been invited by the Commander of the “Fighting 69th” to invite all of us for a personalized tour of their unit HQ in New York City.
WHEN: Thursday, September 5, 2013 –Depart by bus from the Wax parking lot at 8:00AM, return approximately 11:30PM same day.
WHERE: HQ, 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry, New York Army National Guard at the Armory, 68th and Lexington Avenues, between 25th and 26th streets, Manhattan, NYC.
WHO: A personalized tour led by the Unit Commander, Lieutenant Colonel James Gonyo III, affiliated Re-enactors, their Veterans Honor Guard and visiting musicians. This Unit is the direct and only existing Regimental descendant of the 69th NYSM and 69th NYVI and the AOP’s Irish Brigade which fought in the Wheatfield at Gettysburg on July 2, 1863.
WHAT: Artifacts, stories and other items on display including those from Bull Run through Appomattox Court House, WWI, WWII, 9/11, Baghdad and Afghanistan. The original “Prince of Wales” flag carried by the 69th NYSM at Bull Run and a Brigade Flag (circa 1863-1865), Medals of Honor, a Wall of Honor and a case dedicated to their Chaplains are all included in the tour. The tour will conclude with a delivered meal in the Duffy room at the Armory, after which our group will adjourn to the Garry Owen Officers’ Club in the same Armory to enjoy the famous and historical Regimental cocktail.
HOW: Fee of $70.00 per attendee includes Bus, tolls, tips and meal cost, with a required minimum# of 40 Guests.
