Grumble Jones and the Battle of Fairfield, 3 July 1863

Grumble Jones?  “Oh, he hates Stuart and I think he fights at Fairfield, but I can never find the battlefield.”  Join LBG Rob Abbott as we meet this cantankerous Confederate as he squares off with LTC Samuel Starr and the 6 US Cavalry.  It is a relatively small fight with huge implications.  The battlefield itself is far north of the town of Fairfield and not exceptionally well monumented.

Meeting place: Fairfield Dollar General parking lot. 4910 Fairfield Rd,  Fairfield, PA 17320.  Walking is easy.  You will be asked to carpool from there to minimize the parking footprint once when we go out on the battlefield itself.
