Mark A. Strauch – LBG #251

On October 15, 2013, MARK A. STRAUCH, loving husband of Deborah L. McCann. Predeceased by his parents Charles J. Strauch and Yvonne M. Strauch (nee Devolder). Also survived by many other family and friends.

Mark A. Strauch, PhD, was an associate professor in the Department of Microbial Pathogenesis in the School of Dentistry and on the faculty of the Graduate Program in Life Sciences at the University of Maryland, The Founding Campus. Dr. Strauch received his bachelor’s degree in Biology from Purdue University and his Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Michigan (1983). Following postdoctoral training at Purdue under Arthur Aronson and at the Research Institute of the Scripps Clinic under James A. Hoch, Dr. Strauch became Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular and Experimental Medicine at the Scripps Research Institute (1992). He moved to Maryland in 1998 take a position as associate professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the school of dentistry. He had been in the Department of Microbial Pathogenesis since its formation in 2008.

Family and friends may call at the family owned AMBROSE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1328 Sulphur Spring Rd., Arbutus on Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM, where a funeral service will begin at 8 PM. Interment will be private.
