Robert C. “Bob” Mullen – LBG #7

Bob Mullen, 83, of Gettysburg, died Saturday, January 23rd at the Gettysburg Hospital. He was born Dec. 10, 1926 in Forest Hills, son of the late Christopher F. J. and Margaret L. (Ellrod) Mullen. Bob was predeceased by his wife, Eileen Ormand Mullen, who died Nov. 29, 1996.

Mr. Mullin was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Navy. After his military service he graduated from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD and was employed by the Westinghouse Electric Corp. for the next 35 years.

Bob served as a licensed battlefield guide for the GNMP first being licensed in 1985.  He guided regularly until poor health forced him to curtail his activities though he still cheerfully served guide board duties  from 2005 to 2008 even though he did not have the strength to tour. He retired from guiding last year and Guide Supervisor Clyde Bell gave him his old badge – Badge #7 – back in honor of Bob’s many years of faithful guiding services.

Survivors include his daughter Kelli M. Kulp and her husband Jonathan of LeClair Iowa; two sons, Patrick D. Mullen and his wife Dorothy of Baltimore and Mark M. Mullin and his wife Melissa of Hershey; ten grandchildren; and a sister, Marilyn Bruckman of Forest Hills.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan 27, 2010 at 11 AM at the Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg with the Rev. Robert Eickelberg officiating. Interment with full military honors will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Jan 26, 2010 from 5 to 8 PM and on Wednesday from 9 to 11 AM at the funeral home.
