Mike Vallone – LBG #197

Michael A. Vallone, a dedicated Licensed Battlefield Guide of Gettysburg, died Thursday evening, May 25, 2017 at The Gardens at Gettysburg. Michael, Age 66, passed away on Thursday evening after a long battle with cancer. His courage and humor helped him during this difficult process. Born February 14, 1951 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Michael G. and Lillian (Rakebrandt) Vallone. Beloved brother of Donna Vallone and brother-in-law, Edward Salsberg of Washington, DC. Michael pursued his interest and passion for Civil War history by moving to Gettysburg where he served as a Licensed Battlefield Guide for many years. Mike was licensed in 2003 and enjoyed guiding until health issue compelled him to retire at the close of 2014.  He turned his efforts to researching topics on the Battle. He was also an avid guitar and music enthusiast, enjoying playing the guitar till the very end.
